As fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood turns 73, HELLO! Online take a look back at her career and see what’s in her stars today…

'Nothing that you have not given away will ever be really yours.' C. S. Lewis was a marvellous storyteller and philosopher. Today's quotation was later adapted into a song by Sting and has recently been the subject of much discussion in our daily introduction. The current sharp alignment between the Sun and Mars implies that there's something you need to let go of. Your sense of possession is proving painful. There will be no progress, peace or release, until you have decided to reset your sights. Be strong.

Born in North England during the middle of World War II, Vivienne Westwood moved to London aged 17 to study at the Harrow School of Art but left after one term saying, "I didn't know how a working-class girl like me could possibly make a living in the art world."

Dame Vivienne then became a primary school teacher, and during her first marriage she met Malcolm Westwood, whom she would later go on to marry and who would change the course of her life forever.

In 1971 Malcolm opened a fashion store on Kings Road called Let It Rock.

Dame Vivienne soon began creating clothes which Malcolm has designed, and by the late 1970s the pair were heavily involved in the punk scene, with Malcolm managing the Sex Pistols.

She held her first catwalk show in 1981, which was a collaboration with Malcolm with a theme of pirates.

The eccentric has now become one of the world’s most famous designers, with Princess Eugenie and Kate Middleton both wearing her designs.

A political activist, the 73-year-old has launched a range of t-shirts for the civil rights group Liberty, and earlier in 2014 Dame Vivienne shaved off all of her hair in order to raise awareness for climate change and fracking.
