They say 'what you don't know can't harm you.' That is patently wrong. Just as potentially damaging is what you do know - or, at least, think you know. Our opinions are often our enemies. If we form them too quickly and cling to them too tightly, we can end up following them along counter-productive pathways. We end up drawing lines and creating defences against imaginary enemies, thus leaving ourselves open to actual unexpected adversaries. Be sure you are clear today about what you do and don't know.

English model and actress Elizabeth Hurley first came into the public consciousness in 1994 when she accompanied her then-boyfriend Hugh Grant to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral in a plunging black dress by Versace which was held together by safety pins.

It gained her instant media attention and the struggling actress was thrust into the spotlight.

Despite her lack of modelling experience, in 1995 Elizabeth was named as the new spokesperson for Estee Lauder and said later of the experience: "I was far from an ingénue, having had my first modelling job at 29."

Elizabeth went on to feature in many adverts for the brand, as well as participating in campaigns for the company's other cosmetics.

As part of her extensive charity work, the 49-year-old has also been extremely active in Estée Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness tCampaign, as part of which the company created an "Elizabeth Pink" lipstick; is a patron of the Elton John AIDS Foundation; and an ambasador for the Hop Skip and Jump children's charity.

As an actress, Elizabeth gained her biggest role to date in the 1997 film Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, and in 2011 joined the hit American show Gossip Girl for a multi-episode arc. In 2014, Elizabeth has been promoting her TV show The Royals, which will air on E! and revolves round a fictional British Royal Family and set in modern London.

Elizabeth has one son, Damien Hurley.
