Lindsay Lohan was at one time one of the most promising actresses of her generation but more recent times have seen her publicly entangled in legal problems and rehabilitation.

The 28-year-old began her career as a model and at the age of 11 she was cast in the Disney remake of The Parent Trap.

A huge success, the film thrust Lindsay into the spotlight. Her hit films kept coming, with Freaky Friday in 2003 and Mean Girls in 2004 along with a Host of MTV and Teen Choice Awards.

She soon moved into music, with her debut album Speak being released in 2004.

By 2006 the Young star was also gaining critical acclaim for work in fils such as A Prairie Home Companion and Bobby but it was also at this point that Lindsay was put under probation for two drink driving incidents.

She began to attend Alcoholics Anonymous and left the production of several films due to insurance reasons.

Over the following years Lindsay's probation was extended due to her failure to attend court appearances, and in 2009 she was sentenced to 90 days in prison.

In 2013, the actress spent three months in rehabilitation
and days before she was released, an independant film called The Canyons was released to positive reviews for Lindsay's performance.

She has spent the majority of 2014 in London, and recently revealed that she will make her stage debut in the West End production of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow, portraying the role of Karen – a role originally played by Madonna.
