'Don't shoot the messenger!' We all know that people who are charged with the responsibility of delivering news that is likely to be unpopular, run the risk of being blamed. We don't like the people who tell us what we don't want to hear. And we tend to reserve a particular soft spot for the folk who have encouraging information to offer us, even if they are merely passing it on and not originating it. Have you unwittingly developed a prejudice against someone because of what they usually tend to say? Even so, listen carefully today.

Jessica Simpson in 2014

Jessica Simpson made her debut in 1999 at the same time as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Her first single I Wanna Love You Forever was released to acclaim before her debut album Sweet Kisses sold four million copies.

Jessica was touted as the anti-sexy pop star, as her music remained about romance and love. For her second album Jessica decided to update her image to what she called a "sexier, more mature style".

In 2002 Jessica married Nick Lachey, a fellow pop star, and the two starred in an MTV reality show called Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.

The couple divorced in 2005 and Jessica later released a country album which didn't perform as well as her other material. She credited the lack of sales to the public's incorrect perception of her following the reality show.

Jessica has also starred in several films including the remake of The Dukes of Hazzard, and she has set up her own fashion line, Jessica Simpson Collection, which has been hugely successful.

In 2010 she became engaged to NFL player Eric Johnson, and in 2014 Jessica and Eric married in a lavish Californian ceremony in which Jessica wore a beautiful custom Carolina Herrera gown and veil.

The couple have two children, one-year-old Ace Knute, who served as a ring bearer, and a two-year-old daughter Maxwell who was a flower girl.
