Kim Kardashian has diclosed the reason she and her husband Kanye West chose the unusual moniker North West for their first-born daughter.
The reality TV star told GQ magazine that she and Kanye were encouraged by none other than Vogue editor Anna Wintour and singer Pharell Williams to give their child the georgraphical name.
"Kanye and I were having lunch about a year ago and Pharrell came over to us and said, 'Oh my God, are you guys really going to call your daughter North? That is the best name,'" revealed Kim. "I said, 'No, we're not. That's just a rumour.'
"Then a little while later Anna Wintour came over and asked the same thing," she added. "She told us, 'North is a genius name.' Kanye and I looked at one another and just laughed. I guess at that point it sort of stuck."
Kim, Kanye and North starred in a highly anticipated family photoshoot in Vogue earlier this year.
Several months later Kim posted a photo of the moment North met the famous fashionista.
"#TBT when Anna met North!" Wrote Kim alongside the picture. "Oh and told us about our Vogue shoot! #BestDayEver #Vogue #NorthOnlyPayingAttentionToHerDaddyTakingThePic."
The image, which was captured by Kim's husband Kanye, shows Anna and Kim in a restaurant together, with the reality TV star craddling her daughter North.
