Despite separating recently, Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy are doing their best to remain united for the sake of their son. All smiles on the family outing, the trio ate at Brentwood Cafe after the Muse frontman flew into Los Angeles. Matt, who has told fans the split is "for the best", is probably in town for the holiday season.
It meant that the musician could babysit as his ex went out to an awards ceremony, where she was honoured as the Celebrity Role Model Of The Year.
The A-list beauty was presented the accolade on Thursday by close friend Nicole Richie.
From the podium Kate reflected on how life changes. She said: "Life is a journey with its ups and downs, its challenges and its triumphs. Don't ever let anyone ever push you around."

The 35-year-old mother later explained whose example she follows in life.
"My [role model is] easy, mine's my mom (Goldie Hawn), she's kind of awesome.
"My children are my role models, too. I think you learn a lot from your kids – the purity and the sense of how they attack things and how they communicate is inspirational."
