Steven and Alex Gerrard have opened the doors to their fabulous Los Angeles "home from home" in an exclusive interview and photoshoot with HELLO! magazine.
The former England and Liverpool captain, his wife and their three daughters are renting an $18million, six-bedroom house – previous occupants include Mariah Carey – in Beverly Hills during his 18-month contract with LA Galaxy.

And Steven said he is delighted with his new life. "I couldn't be happier right now," he told HELLO! "I’ve gone from not being able to walk down a street without being stopped every five minutes to being a Z-lister out here and that’s cool. I love it."
"We're very lucky, I know that. I grew up on a council estate and will always remain grounded and humble. But this is mind-blowing."
Steven says the anonymity he receives in LA means he is able to be a proper family man to daughters Lily-Ella, Lexie and Lourdes for the first time in his life.
"I've become a cool dad all of a sudden because I can take the kids out and no one interferes," he told the magazine. "We can take them to the park, the beach, fairgrounds, water parks and be there for six hours and I might hear one person say my name and they’re not even sure if it’s me, so I just smile. The kids have been shocked I’m around and can do more things with them."
Alex also says she has grown much happier in her own skin while living in the city.
“I feel much more confident and have come out of my shell a bit. I think I needed to. On the second day here, I decided I’m just going to get in the car and drive, which I think surprised everyone. Now I look like one of those soccer moms ferrying all the kids around in a seven-seater Range Rover.”
And Steven said the family is even looking forward to their first Christmas at home with the family, as his previous sporting commitments meant he was always away.
“We’re going to have a house party in Liverpool and it’ll be nice to have a couple of beers like everyone else can. Then we’ll go away for New Year, which we’ve never been able to do before. We’ll always have Christmas in England because we love being cosy at home with the kids and all the presents and have family time.”
