Kirsty Gallacher has revealed that she has started dating again, following her break-up from husband of 15 years, Paul Sampson. The sports presenter, who became the fifth contestant to leave this year's Strictly Come Dancing competition on Sunday night, says that being back on the dating game is "fun and exciting".
"I have dated this year and, after spending 15 years with just one person, it was interesting," the 39-year-old star told Essentials magazine.
"It's fun and exciting, but I tried not to put any pressure on myself and I learned that you should only do it if it's right. We'll see what happens next year – hopefully good things!"
Already the proud mum of two sons Oscar, eight, and Jude, five with her rugby star ex, Kirsty doesn't rule out the possibility of having more children in the future.
"We're all ten years younger these days, so 40 is the new 30," she said. "I'm feeling better in myself – personally, mentally, physically – than I’ve ever felt. I think late 30s are a good time for women – if you can think positively, it’s the best time of your life.
"It's not like, 'Oh, you're 40, you can't do this and you can't do that…' To me it means nothing. I'd still like to have another child."
Speaking about how she and Paul, who are currently going through a divorce, have split the custody of the boys, she explained: "It can depend on schedules, but we make sure it's even and do alternate weekends. When I've got them, I shelve everything else."
The sports news anchor lost out to Jamelia in a dance-off on Strictly on Sunday. Speaking about her decision to take part in the TV competition, with its gruelling training, she confessed: "I knew it would be hard to fit everything in."
"But I'd been asked to do it three years in a row and I just thought if I don't do it now, I probably won’t get asked again and then I’ll regret it for ever."
