Another member of Céline Dion's family is sadly battling cancer – the same disease that claimed the lives of her late father, her husband and her brother. Celine suffered a devastating loss at the start of 2016 when her longterm love Rene Angelil passed away just two days before her brother Daniel lost his cancer battle. And now Celine's sister Claudette has revealed that their sister Liette's husband, Guy Poirier, has also been diagnosed.

Celine Dion's brother-in-law is being treated for cancer at a palliative care facility

She told Echos Vedettes magazine that Guy is being treated for cancer that has spread to his lungs, brain and bones at the Maison Adheman-Dion, a palliative care facility named after Celine's father Adhemar, who died of bone cancer in 2003.

According to the Toronto Sun, Claudette – one of Celine's 12 siblings – told the magazine; "My brother-in-law is at the Maison Adheman-Dion and he is still conscious. My sister (Liette) is with him and she is very strong. People of the Maison are angels and they are taking very good care of our brother-in-law."

It's not the first tragedy Liette has had to endure. In May 1993, she lost her 16-year-old daughter Karine to cystic fibrosis. Poignantly, Karine passed away in Celine's arms as she sang into her ear the track Les Oiseaux du Bonheur (The Birds of Happiness), and her death promoted the singer become the celebrity patron of Cystic Fibrosis Canada, a role she has now held for more than 30 years.

Celine will no doubt be a great source of comfort for her sister at this time. The superstar has shown tremendous strength after the loss of her husband, continuing her Las Vegas residency, touring around the world, and recording new music.

"I feel fulfilled because I was with the best man," she told the Montreal Gazette. "He gave me so much knowledge. And he gave me three magnificent children and I look at them and I see him every day."
