Kate Hudson has revealed her delight after landing a role opposite her "father" Kurt Russell in Deepwater Horizon.

Speaking in an exclusive video, the 37-year-old actress explained how getting the chance to work with the Hollywood legend was an incredible experience.

"I got to see Mark (Wahlberg) and my pa Kurt together," the actress confessed. "I just thought, 'Wow what a great combination.' I'm biased, obviously because he's my dad.

"He is one of my favourite actors, he's so honest and I just have so much respect. Growing up watching him work, I think it has been a great lesson for me."

In the film, Kate plays Wahlberg's wife, while Kurt takes on the role of Jimmy Harrell, the offshore installation manager of the oil rig and one of the real-life survivors.

Despite not being the Bride Wars star's biological father, Kate refers to her mother Goldie Hawn's partner as 'pa'.

Their collaboration in Deepwater Horizon marks the first time Kate and Kurt have teamed up for a project, however, their on-screen presence together was very limited.

"We had like one little moment in the movie and then that's it," she recently explained onThe Ellen DeGeneres Show. "You know it was kind of cool, because I was back on set with my dad.
