I think I know how to bake, and I love telling people how to do it a little better next time. I love judging, it has always been a great honour. Mary punched the air with joy
Former finalist Holly Bell opened up about how Mary would help her baking on the set of Great British Bake Off, telling HELLO! Online: "She is so sweet, she was always helping me while I was baking – she would even get told off for it! The show will be different with Mary, but she is 81 and everyone deserves to retire at some point. I think replacing her is a really hard act to follow though. I wouldn't want to do it!"
