With their first solo tour just months away, Kevin Clifton has opened up about the incredible relationship and sizzling chemistry he shares with wife and fellow Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Clifton. The tour, aptly called Kevin & Karen Dance, kicks off in July and tells the story of their romance through a sequence of various routines, including the Waltz, Cha Cha Tango and Salsa. During an interview with Radio Times, Kevin talked about the concept behind the tour and how he managed to end up with Karen - much to everyone's surprise.

"In the end we decided that we wanted to tell our story," he explained. "It's kind of a weird thing that we're together really. Karen's from Venezuela, I'm from Grimsby and we met in New York. When we got together, I think a lot of people thought that it would probably never work. It is insane because we are so different as people but somehow we compliment each other and we get on really well. It's kind of an odd story that we're together and we're an odd couple but we decided that our own show would be the best way to do it."

The tour will primarily be based on the married couple's life and how they grew up in different countries and their influences while growing up. Speaking about working together all the time, Karen added: "We're obviously doing something that we love and we enjoy doing together. I think that's one of the best things about us - that we absolutely love working together, especially when it’s something that really means something to us that's very special."

STORY: Karen and Kevin Clifton add more dates to their tour

Kevin and Karen, who married in July 2015 in a wedding exclusively covered by HELLO! magazine, met during the production of Burn the Floor on Broadway and got engaged in early 2013. They also discussed their exciting new project with HELLO!, describing it as a "dream come true". Karen explained: "The tour is something we have always thought about doing since we met. We love performing in a theatre. It's something that sits very close to our hearts. We met in a theatre, we got engaged in a theatre, now the best thing to do is perform our dream show in a theatre."
