Orlando Bloom decided to put his recent split from Katy Perry behind him as he attended Coldplay frontman Chris Martin's 40th birthday bash in Malibu, California this weekend. He was pictured looking relaxed as he made his way to the star-studded celebrations, which was themed around Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The sighting marks the Hollywood actor's first appearance since confirming his split from the American singer last week. On Tuesday, representatives for the stars announced the sad news and, in a bid to prevent exaggerated rumours from flying around the internet, they stated: "Before rumours or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time."

Days later, Katy broke her silence as she took to her Twitter page to reveal that nobody was to "blame". The 32-year-old told her 96 million followers: "HOW BOUT A NEW WAY OF THINKING FOR 2017!? You can still be friends & love your former partners! No one's a victim or a villain, get a life y'all!" [sic] Katy and her 40-year-old former beau were last photographed together at last month's Vanity Fair Oscar party.

The end of their romance came as a surprise to many. The couple had celebrated several milestone moments together over the past few months - including Orlando's 40th birthday in January. The American singer had organised a surprise bash with close family and friends in Palm Springs, and she even managed to get Orlando's mother Sonia to fly over for the festivities. The British actor later took to his social media sites to share a picture of himself with his mother. In the caption, he gushed: "best gift ever surprise visit from me mum."

STORY: Katy surprises Orlando with star-studded 40th birthday party

The A-list couple started dating last January, but it wasn't until May that they made their relationship official on social media. The Roar hitmaker confirmed that she and Orlando were officially an item by sharing a photo of themselves lying on the stairs of a lavish hotel during Cannes Film Festival, adding the caption: "we cannes't." The Lord of the Rings star was previously married to Australian model Miranda Kerr from 2007 to 2013. The former couple are parents to five-year-old-son Flynn. Meanwhile, Katy tied the knot with British comedian Russell Brand in 2010 but their high-profile romance ended two years later.
