TV host Paddy McGuinnes has paid a heartfelt tribute on social media to a contestant who died since filming on the dating gameshow Take Me Out. Charlie was a lovely young guy from York who won over both viewers and the ladies on the show, getting himself a holiday date to the Isle of Fernandos with contestant Jo-Tara. Paddy wrote on his Twitter page on Saturday: “Tonight’s Take Me Out is in memory of Charlie. A fantastic lad who I’m sure will be greatly missed by his wonderful friends & family. RIP.”
Paddy’s Twitter followers were saddened by the news and were quick to send their condolences. One person wrote: “Absolutely shocked and saddened by this news. We’ve only just finished watching tonight’s episode. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.” Another follower said: “Rip Charlie, you made me smile so much in those few minutes… what a great guy.” A third fan noticed that Paddy hadn’t tweeted along with the show as usual, writing: “Ah no, how awful. RIP young man. How respectful of you Paddy for not Tweeting along with the show as usual. What a gent!”
A Thames spokesperson released the following statement: “It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the tragic news regarding Charlie. Our thoughts and best wishes go to his family and friends. We ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time.” Our thoughts go out to Charlie’s friends and family at this sad time.
