McBusted were celebrating their one-year anniversary on Tuesday

The six-man band – made up of McFly's Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd and Busted's James Bourne and Matt Willis – was formed exactly one year ago without the latter's Charlie Simpson. To mark their big day, McBusted released their new single What Happened To Your Band. James explained the inspiration behind the song, tweeting, "I wrote What Happened To Your Band because the lady at Tesco's kept asking me what happened to your band when Busted split."

Fans of the pop group immediately reacted with excitement to hear of McBusted's new material, sending the term "#1YearOfMcBusted" trending on Twitter. Just last week the band announced that they would be doing a tour around the UK in March and April 2015. The tour will kick off in Glasgow and travel around other major cities including Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool, before heading back down to London and Bournemouth, passing through the Midlands.

Prince William and Kate will meet McBusted at the Royal Variety Performance this week

At their upcoming gig at the Royal Variety Performance, McBusted will have the opportunity to meet royal guests of honour William and Kate. As Prince Charles attended the show last year, tradition says that The Queen will make it this year as the mother-son duo alternate. The star-studded show will be hosted by award winning comedian Michael McIntyre while Russell Kane, Jake Whitehall, Sarah Millican and Trevor Noah will be providing the stand-up comedy. Proceeds from the night are donated to The Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund, which cares for hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK who need help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times.
