Jennifer Aniston has opened up about her personal life and admitted she turned to therapy to cope with her divorce from Brad Pitt and her need to be a "control freak". The 45-year-old said she learnt a lot during her years of therapy, however her doctor passed away prematurely after suffering a heart attack.

"It was at a crazy time, right when we were going through our divorce and everything," Jennifer told The Hollywood Reporter. "But I learned so much in the four years I worked with her, that when she did pass away I remember thinking, 'Wow, everything that we talked about and discussed, it's allowed me to be really peaceful about it all.'"

"I mean, there were human moments. But I was really shockingly OK," she added.

Jennifer Aniston revealed she had therapy for years

Jennifer said that her therapist focused on helping her to assert herself and not to bottle her anger up in unhealthy ways, which helped her to change her mindset.

"Her whole thing with me was really saying, 'You have to stand up for yourself in life'. She was really trying to help me deal with anger and learning how to express it without feeling terrified that I was going to get murdered in response."
