Katy Perry and John Mayer pictured together after Super Bowl

Katy Perry seemed to hint that she was back together with her on-off boyfriend John Mayer as she spent the evening celebrating with him after her spectacular Super Bowl performance. The couple were joined by icon Missy Elliott, who had – earlier on in the night – performed with Katy at halftime and taken the stage by storm.

While the 43-year-old rapper belted out Get Ur Freak On followed by Lose Control, Katy danced alongside Missy, wowing the audience with an array of gestures and facial expressions.

The stars coordinated in all-black outfits, keeping to the sporty theme of the night in oversized jerseys with their names Perry and Missy emblazed on their tops.

After the 12-minute set, in which Missy featured for a few minutes, the duo took their buzzing energy off stage as they attended an afterparty with John.

Missy – whose real name is Melissa Arnette Elliott – shared a snap of the trio on Twitter and captioned it: "After party Super Bowl with @johnmayor @katyperry." The photo had rumours swirling that John and Katy were back-on, as the Roar chart-topper looked extremely content and relaxed, cuddling up to her blues singer beau.

Missy also thanked her fans for their support, explaining that she had been performing for decades. The nineties breakthrough artist wrote: "Gnite y'all I u all & thank u 4 the love! I appreciate U all from the bottom of my heart. Been here over 20 yrs & counting."

The Shake Your Pom Pom rapper also retweeted messages from her musical peers, including Lil' Kim who posted "My sister @MissyElliott KILLED it along @katyperry and my bro @LennyKravitz #SuperBowlHalftimeShow #SuperBowl2015 love you Miss!!!!" while Demi Lovato simply exclaimed: "YES MISSSYYYY!!!!!"

The rapper was not the only one who was supported on the night. Katy's ex-husband Russell Brand, who she was married to for two years, gave a special mention to Katy as he tweeted: "Super Bowl may be baffling to Brits but half time show will be amazing. Good luck KP."
