Long haul flights with a baby can be tricky, as Simon Cowell discovered this week. According to the music mogul it wasn't his young son Eric causing a fuss though – it was a "grumpy" fellow passenger.

Simon took to Twitter to describe the difficult situation on board, after flying from London to Miami with his girlfriend, Eric's mum Lauren Silverman.

Addressing his 11.6 million followers, Simon wrote: "Just arrived in Miami. The @British_Airways team were great. Eric travelled with us but one really really grumpy man complained. A Lot!"

Simon Cowell wrote there was "a lot of sighing and tutting" from a fellow passenger

The X Factor judge added: "He asked to be moved. Complained to the staff. And there was a lot of sighing and tutting. The other passengers were amazing."

Simon gained support from fans after sharing his story. One follower commented: "People who moan about kids annoy me, a kid has as much right to be in 1st as anyone else." Another suggested: "He should travel with ear buds."

Lauren Silverman and Simon Cowell celebrated their baby's first birthday last month

Simon, 55, and his American girlfriend Lauren, 37, celebrated their son's first birthday in February. Their little bundle of joy arrived on Valentine's Day last year, and it sounds like the couple – who first started dating in 2013 – could be expanding their brood.

"I wouldn't rule out anything," Simon told the Daily Star, just a few days after Eric turned one.

Simon Cowell complained about the man's behaviour on Twitter

The Londoner, who splits his time between his home town and Beverly Hills, has previously admitted that he doesn't always muck in with baby duties but does help bathe Eric and enjoys playing with him.

"I'm going to be honest – I'm not exactly a hands on dad," Simon told HELLO! magazine. "I want to fast forward a few years so I can take him go-karting and then introduce him to women. There are a few years to go yet."

He added: "I'm probably in a far better position to be a father now than I would have been ten years ago. That's the way I'd look at it. And at the end of the day we have really great nannies that are bloody amazing so I don't have to worry."
