Taylor Swift hits back after being accused of bad grammar in her song lyrics

Accuse Taylor Swift of anything, but do not attack her song writing skills. That is the message the 25-year-old gave after her song lyrics were listed in an American SAT exam paper as an example of bad use of pronouns in pop music.

In a section of an English paper from the Princeton Review titled Grammar in Real Life, lyrics from Taylor's track Fifteen are listed alongside Katy Perry and Lady Gaga as a "great source of bad grammar".

The exam board said Taylor had incorrectly used a pronoun in the line "Somebody tells you they love you, you got to believe 'em."

However one eagle-eyed Taylor Swift fan noticed that the lyrics were in fact wrong and took to her Tumblr page to share a photo of the error.

"I was just having an amazing time studying for the SAT and now I feel attacked. Ugh thanks Swift. The lyrics are wrong," she wrote.

The fan's post was soon spotted by Tumblr devotee Taylor herself who reposted the image to her own page.

"Not the right lyrics at all pssshhhh. You had one job, test people. One job," she wrote, adding the hashtag "accuse me of anything but do not attack my grammar".

The correct lyrics should in fact be "Somebody tells you they love you, you're gonna believe 'em." Technically, however, they still contain a grammar mistake - 'he' or 'she' should actually be used in place of 'they', and 'him' or 'her' should be used instead of 'em'.

Taylor often uses social media to interact with her fans, and recently granted the wish of terminally ill Jalene Salinas following a campaign using the hashtag #ShakeItOffJalene.

The four-year-old, who is battling an aggressive form of terminal brain cancer, was treated to a video dance party with Taylor, who said: "I'm so sorry you're having a bad night. I'm so happy to talk to you though and I'm so happy you like Shake It Off."

In February the singer also reached out to a fan via cyberspace to offer heartfelt words of advice after the young girl admitted she had been dumped, while in January, she proved how much she values her fans as she sent one loyal supporter a generous package including a cheque for $1,989 to help pay off her student loans.
