Actress Claire Cooper couldn't look any more different to her former Hollyoaks character Jacqui McQueen in New York on Tuesday. The 34-year-old, who rose to fame in the British soap, looked glamorous at the premiere of her new American TV show A.D. The Bible Continues.

Recently engaged Claire stunned in a black bandeau jumpsuit, which she accessorised with a gold statement necklace. She wore her brunette tresses tied back and kept her make-up relatively natural - in stark contrast to her Hollyoaks alter-ego who was known for her heavy make-up and huge hoop earrings.

Claire was joined on the red carpet by her fiancé Emmett Scanlan, who has also landed a role in the NBC show. The couple play characters Herodias and Saul in the new series, which follows on from popular US show The Bible and is set in the aftermath of the crucifixion.

Emmett took to Instagram to share a picture of himself and Claire from the event on Wednesday, writing: "Suited and booted in my favourite city in the world NYC, with a perfect 10 by my side, promoting our new epic show AD, airing this EASTER Sunday on NBC… #BeautyAndTheBeast #Believe".

The handsome Irishman also made his name on the popular soap by playing villain Brendan Brady, and has since gone on to star in Guardians of the Galaxy and hit television show The Fall.

Emmett and Claire went public with their relationship in May 2011 after meeting on set of the Channel 4 soap, and got engaged on Christmas Eve.

An ecstatic Emmett shared the happy news on Instagram with a sweet snap of himself and his new fiancé, telling followers: "There are over a million ways to ask the question, but only one real answer… #WorldsLongestHangoverStartsToday."
