Liam Payne and Sophia Smith looked truly happy together at a Great Gatsby charity ball in London on Thursday. The One Direction singer and his girlfriend, who have been dating for over 18 months, put on a tactile display as they entered the event for cancer charity Trekstock.

Sophia, 21, looked stunning in a blush pink lace dress and faux fur stole, while Liam gave a nod to the 1920s theme wearing a powder blue suit and white shirt.

The couple attended the event since Liam has recently teamed up with Trekstock to offer an incredible prize to those who donate to the charity, which helps young adults diagnosed with cancer.

On the website he said: "As part of my fundraising for Trekstock's 5th birthday, the band and I have decided to work with Prizeo to give you a chance to win a trip to London to meet us all backstage at the final leg of our On The Road Again 2015 world tour, in exchange for a small donation to Trekstock!

"All we ask is that you support Trekstock with us and do what you can. So please tell your friends and post about the campaign!"

Liam also had support from his One Direction bandmates Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson at the ball. The trio were missing their fellow band member Harry Styles, who is currently spending some time in Los Angeles during their two-month break from their world tour.

The past month has been difficult for Liam and his bandmates following the departure of Zayn Malik. The singers have since admitted that they were "gutted" that their bandmate – and friend – had decided to leave, but have already started work on their fifth studio album.

Speaking after the news was announced, Liam told The Sun: "It's been a tough few weeks, probably the toughest since the band was formed five years ago. We're gutted that Zayn chose to leave, but now after a few performances as a four piece, we're feeling confident and are determined to carry on stronger than ever."
