"Rita is great – I love her," he told HELLO! of the British singer who sat alongside him on the last series of The Voice.

Will.i.am has said that he still 'loves' Rita Ora, following her departure from The Voice

"The British public were a little harsh on her for jumping ship," he added. "I mean, it’s not that serious. "Los Angeles-born Will.i.am is not someone who sweats the small stuff. If he's having a bad day he finds a way to beat the blues. "If I'm stressed, depressed or frustrated, I usually write songs about it," he said. "My therapy is composing or cracking jokes." The 40-year-old was speaking to HELLO! in Spain where he had flown in to film an extraordinary new advert for Lexus NX.

The singer travelled to Madrid to film an ad with Lexus

He'd landed in Madrid the previous afternoon, before being driven 61 miles to an aerodrome where he filmed the advert until 4am. He was up giving media interviews at noon.

He seems to survive on very little sleep – and admits that he can't see the point of taking holidays.

"I'd rather have fun and do things we love and get paid for it," he said. The Lexus NX ad required eight 40-ton trains, 350 motion- and audio-sensitive lights and 100 technicians. "It’s like being in side a game of Guitar Hero," said the musician, whose car was driven by a stunt driver during filming.

And what did he think of filming in Spain? "How do you say 'amazing' in Spanish?" he asked. "Amazing-o?"
