Andy Murray reveals his secret to a happy marriage with Kim Sears

Andy Murray has shared the secret to his happy marriage with Kim Sears. The former Wimbledon champion, who tied the knot with his long-term love in April, said their relationship works so well because they often spend time apart.

Although Kim often supports her husband during big tennis matches, Andy said she will only be attending five of his tournaments each year.

"I've found spending a bit of time apart isn't actually a bad thing," Andy told The Sun. "If you spend two or three weeks apart and then get to see each other, you appreciate it more.

"You spend six months with each other, then every single day you start arguing about little things. We don't have to travel with each other every single week to make it work."

The 28-year-old added that visits from his wife often come at the right time to offer him a break from tennis.

"When she comes, it's nice. It's normally at the end of a three or four-week trip. It breaks it up a little bit," Andy explained. "When I go back to the room I don't have to talk about tennis or be with my team all the time. We can do stuff together."

The couple, who are expecting their first child together in 2016, also like to enjoy time out of the limelight.

"That's one of the things she has sacrificed for our relationship," Andy said of the attention his wife receives as a result of their relationship. "But hopefully there's only a few more years left of it and then we can get away from all of that stuff."

Andy and Kim tied the knot in his hometown of Dunblane in April, with the couple sharing the happy news that they are expecting their first child together just four months later. The new addition to Team Murray is thought to be due in February.
