Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner all smiles as they step out together in LA

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are working hard to ensure they remain on friendly terms following the end of their 10-year marriage. The couple, who announced their split in June, were all smiles as they left an appointment together in LA on Thursday and made their way side-by-side to Ben’s car.

While neither of them were wearing their wedding rings, the amicable exes were totally at ease as they spent time together, chatting and laughing as they left the building in Santa Monica. It comes after the couple confirmed that they planned to "go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children", when they announced their plans to divorce.

Ben and Jennifer, both 43, spent much of the summer in Atlanta, where Jennifer was filming Miracles from Heaven. Ben, meanwhile, spent much of his time caring for the couple's three children, Violet, nine, Seraphina, six and three-year-old Samuel.

They returned to LA at the end of August, with Jennifer and the children staying in the family home, and Ben living in a rented property just down the street. "She's happy to get back to her usual, family routine with the kids in LA," a source told People of Jennifer this week. "Jen seems in good spirits and is almost back to her normal, positive personality."

It hasn't all been plain sailing for the pair, however. Over the summer, Ben was hit by claims that he had an affair with their 28-year-old nanny Christine Ouzounian. He has vehemently denied the dating rumours, with his spokesperson telling Page Six that the story is "garbage" and "full of lies".

Jennifer and Ben shocked their fans when they announced their split on 30 June, just one day after marking their tenth wedding anniversary.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," they said in a joint statement. "We go forward with love and friendship and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
