Johnny Depp and Amber Heard made a rare red carpet appearance together at Venice Film Festival on Friday. The couple, who married in February, looked loved up as they stepped out for the premiere of Johnny's new film Black Mass.

The actor held hands with his wife as they made their way to the event, before wrapping his arm around her waist as they posed happily for photos together. Amber looked stunning in a floor-length black Stella McCartney gown and her hair worn down in loose curls, while Johnny dressed up in a three-piece tuxedo with a black bow tie.

It was a rare public appearance for the pair, who wed in a small private ceremony at their home in Los Angeles in February, before hosting a second ceremony on Johnny's private Bahamas island.

Although the couple have faced persistent rumours of a split, their tactile display at Friday's premiere put to rest any speculation about their marriage. In fact, their relationship may be stronger than ever after Amber revealed her growing love for her former Rum Diaries co-star.

"I just fall in love again and again," she told ELLE in June. The 29-year-old also said that she didn't feel that much had changed since she and Johnny tied the knot.

"Nothing is a dramatic change. We've been together for a long time now, so it's been a fairly organic process," she said. "I have a fiercely independent spirit."

The couple's start to married life has been eventful; Johnny required surgery after injuring his right hand on the set of the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film in March. Following his return to the set in May, the stars' pet dogs Boo and Pistol were threatened to be put down by the country's agriculture minister Barnaby Joyce after they were "snuck in" without complying to quarantine laws.
