Just months after tying the knot with his fiancée Hannah Bagshawe, Eddie Redmayne managed to do the unthinkable and lost his wedding ring. The Oscar winner was working on his new drama The Danish Girl when he noticed that his silver band was missing.

"When you're filming you have to take off these things and I actually lost my wedding ring," the actor told E! News.

"So this is a new wedding ring that is being worn. I was pinning it to my costume every day and one day it disappeared."

The 33-year-old admitted that telling his wife Hannah was no easy feat. "I sort of skirted around it," he said. "But anyhow, I like the new one."

"I'm loving the first year of marriage," he added. "I'm a lucky man."

Eddie and Hannah, who works as a PR executive in the finance industry, married in December of last year in their native England. The couple, who both hail from London, chose to marry at Babington House – a venue in Somerset that is a favourite with celebrity couples.

Eddie then whisked off his new wife to the Alps, but their honeymoon was cut short as the pair attended the Golden Globes in LA in January. At the time the actor said that he would be taking Hannah on a second honeymoon as soon as filming for The Danish Girl was finished.

"The plan is to go and sit on a beach somewhere – she certainly deserves it," he said, before joking: "[I can] get a few more freckles."

While Eddie still seems to be enjoying the honeymoon period, the actor's professional life has also gone from strength to strength. During awards season, the talented star won numerous awards for his leading role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, including the Oscar for Best Actor.

He went on to film The Danish Girl, in which he stars opposite Alicia Vikander and Amber Heard, and is currently working on the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Over the summer it was also announced that the Les Miserables star will receive an OBE from the Queen as part of Her Majesty's Birthday Honours list.
