Joss Stone postpones gig dates to care for sick dog

Joss Stone has postponed shows in the Caribbean to be with her sick dog. The 29-year-old star described pet Rottweiler Missy as "the closest thing I have to a child", as she explained her decision to return back home to "make sure she is ok"."Last night my dog Missy got rushed to the vets with internal bleeding, I was told she could have only a few hours to live," she told fans on Facebook. "Luckily she made it through the night and they are now working hard to find out what I wrong and save her.

"Missy is the closest thing I have to a child. I know to some that may sound ridiculous but for me it is everything. "She continued: "I have to go back and make sure she is ok before I can continue with the tour. I hope that those who had planned to attend the shows can understand. I will come back I promise, but right now Missy comes first."Please say a prayer for Missy. I don't know what I will do if she is not around. I can't bear the thought. Please say a prayer even if you don't believe in God, just put some good energy out for her."

The star described Missy as "the closest thing I have to a child"

The Grammy award-winning singer was due to play shows in Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago. She is hopeful that she will be able to resume her Total World Tour in Caracas, Venezuela on 21 April.

Joss will be back in the UK for a performance at the Roundhouse in London on 15 May. So far this year, she has already made stops in countries including India, Costa Rica, Nepal, Panama and Guatemala.
