Harry Styles cuts his famous hair for charity

Harry Styles is well known for his long brunette tresses, but it now appears that the One Direction band member has chopped off his famous locks for charity.

The star teased fans about his new do by posting a snap of himself holding out a blonde brunette ponytail with the caption: "Whoops. #Littleprincesstrust".

Harry donated his hair so it could be made into a wig

The Little Princess Trust is a charity which provides real hair wigs for children suffering with hair loss, and so it can be assumed that Harry used his fame for good by donating his long locks to the cause. According to the charity's site, Harry's post caused their Facebook and Twitter followers to go up exponentially, and people around the world pledged donations after seeing the 22-year-old's generous gesture.

Although Harry is yet to post a photo of himself with his new, short hair, One Direction's famously passionate fanbase has already had a strong reaction to the news that Harry has gone for a drastic new look. One fan tweeted: "I'm so proud of harry for cutting his hair and donated it to charity his hair would be of good cause," while another joked: "always in our heart Harry's hair. Yours sincerely, fandom."

Fans have also already began to speculate what Harry's new hair will look like, with many photoshopping various new styles on the singer.

The star is known for having shoulder length hair

Harry has remained out of the limelight following One Direction's hiatus, which began in December last year. The band announced their plans to have a brief break for the first time since their formation in 2010, and according to reports Harry has begun to look to Hollywood for his next career move.

Film producer Harvey Weinstein has already revealed that he had previously offered the star a role in one of his movies. He told The Sun: "When you meet him, he's super-charismatic. He came to our Oscars party last year and then I went out to lunch with him. I've met him two or three times and he was very interested and charming. I think the guy is a movie star."
