Andy Murray has opened up about his baby daughter. The tennis champion welcomed his first child Sophia Olivia in February with his wife, Kim Sears.

Speaking to Men's Health magazine, he revealed that he took his longest break in tennis for years following the birth of his baby girl. He said: "I took two weeks off without hitting a ball and that was the longest I hadn’t played since I had my surgery [in 2014].

"Normally, after a week or so, I want to hit a few balls. When I got back to doing stuff, I felt much better for it. It was such a long end to last year, stressful. It's been nice to be at home with Kim and the baby."

The 29-year-old also revealed that having his daughter has given him a new perspective while playing tennis as he has "something else on [his] mind" besides winning. He said: "For a number of years I hadn't played a Slam like that; normally I'm competing for them and trying to win them, but this time I had something else on my mind as well.

"I don't think it affected my tennis so much, but it definitely gave me perspective. I had to think a little bit more about what’s important, what my values are."

Andy has previously opened up about little Sophia Olivia in a fun interview with little Ant and Dec for Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, joking to the children that had to change his daughter's nappies.

After they asked him if he changed her nappies, he replied: "yeah, especially the dirty ones!" as the two boys giggled.

He also accepted a gift of a baby grow from the two cheeky chaps which read: "I've done a number 2 for the world's number 2," thanking them and saying: "I'll take that home with me, I'll use that tonight."
