The former The Voice US contestant Christina Grimmie has been laid to rest in a private funeral. Friends and family gathered to pay their respects to the singer, who was tragically killed after being shot at a meet-and-greet in Florida last Friday.

The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon, and was paid for by Christina's former The Voice coach, Adam Levine. A source told People magazine: "It's just going to be a small, intimate gathering for her family and close friends." A public memorial service for the star took place on Friday, which was attended by Christina's mother Tina and brother, Marcus.

Speaking at the service, Tina said: "To anybody who says that I'm strong, I want you to know that I'm the weakest person here and I declare my dependence on Jesus Christ because I don't have anything else. It's just so much."

She then thanked her son Marcus, who tackled the gunman to the ground, saying: "Marcus, I want to say this publicly and from everyone. I want everyone to know he has been so good to his moma. He has loved me and he has stood by my side."

Marcus also spoke about her sister at a vigil in New Jersey for the singer earlier this week. He said: "She loved this town, she loved this state, she loved singing, she loved the Lord and she loved me and she was my baby sister."

Celebrities took to Twitter to pay tribute to the 22-year-old star, with her friend Selena Gomez, The Voice judge Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato paying their respects. Selena, who's stepfather was also Christina's manager, wrote: "My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina."

A GoFundPage was also set up to raise money for Christina's family, and has now reached over $100thousand. Speaking of the fan's generosity, her brother Marcus wrote: "Now a friend just told me to look at the gofundme page and I see it is at 100k.
