Olympic champions Jessica Ennis-Hill and Justin Rose received a hero's welcome as they arrived in the UK on Tuesday. The athletes touched down at London's Heathrow Airport and were greeted by scores of cheering fans.

Just hours before Jess, 30, had said it was "incredibly hard" being away from her little boy Reggie. She looked over the moon to be back on home soil, proudly sporting her red Team GB T-shirt.

All eyes were on Jess' shiny new silver medal, which she received on Saturday following her performance at the women's heptathlon event.

Olympic golfer Justin looked equally thrilled to be back, and brandished his gold medal as he walked through the terminal. The 36-year-old expressed his excitement on Twitter, sharing a video from the car as he was about to drive home, with his medal secured onto the rear-view mirror.

"HOME!!!" he tweeted.

Golfer Justin Rose came home with gold

Justin is just as happy to see golf return as a sport to the Olympics. He revealed that Rory McIlroy, who did not compete amid fears of the Zika virus, tuned in to watch the events unfold at Rio.

Speaking at the airport Justin said: "When golf was announced back quite a few years ago I thought that's definitely something I want to be a part of. Just to be down in Rio and to be an Olympian, I wanted to treat it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

"It's blown me away to be honest," he added. "It's been way more than I expected. Obviously to come away with an Olympic gold is just absolutely mind-blowing."

Bradley Wiggins was also spotted making a low-key arrival

Bradley Wiggins was also spotted leaving the airport, almost going incognito in a pale pink T-shirt, shorts and sunglasses. The cyclist kept a low-profile, choosing not to wear the new gold medal he received last week.

Bradley made history when he picked up his eighth Olympic medal, becoming the first ever Briton to do so. He won his fifth gold in Rio when he competed in the men's team pursuit race on day seven of the Games.
