Gold medal winner Laura Trott has confirmed she will be taking fiancé Jason Kenny's surname once they tie the knot. The Olympic golden couple sat down with Good Morning Britain on Tuesday to talk about their wedding plans, starting a family together and relying on each in Rio.

"We haven't got a date yet," Laura, 24, revealed. "I mean Rio was such a huge part of our lives for such a long time that it was just about getting that hurdle out the way first."

Asked what her surname would be at the next Olympics, she replied: "It will be Laura Kenny. I'm changing it."

Host Ben Shephard then joked that the power couple needed a joint name – like 'Kimye'. Laughing, Laura agreed, adding: "'Trotny' sounds better I think!"

Laura was also asked about the couple's plans to start a family, following her tweet at Rio that their children have to inherit some of their sporting genes.

"Not before the next Olympics," she answered. "I'm sort of regretting that tweet now, at the time I thought it was funny and now everybody's like, ‘Are you having kids?'

"We would like kids obviously but when that happens I don't know. I think it would be hard to juggle a cycling career with a child to be totally honest."

Laura and Jason sat down with HELLO! to talk about their wedding plans

Hours after making history in Rio – where they earned 10 gold medals between them - Laura and Jason sat down with HELLO! to talk about turning their attention from medals to marriage.

"We are going on the world's longest honeymoon," Laura said. "I want to go for a good month. We're thinking of getting a camper van and just driving around because we've got our dogs and I wouldn't want to leave them again. We could go on a little tour."
