Renée Zellweger plays a mum-to-be in her latest film Bridget Jones's Baby, so it may not come as a surprise that she has been faced with a barrage of questions about whether she'd want to have a child of her own. The 47-year-old actress had a very diplomatic response when she was asked if she was "craving to have a baby".

"I've never really thought like that about anything in my life, really," Renée told Extra. "I've always been kind of open to whatever. Maybe curious to see what's next. I've never been deliberate about what would make me happy in my life."

She added of the lovable Bridget, who resonates with so many viewers: "She triumphs over her imperfections and she makes it okay to be imperfect.

Renée Zellweger has been dating musician Doyle Bramhall for four years

"She makes it okay to be human at a time when we feel probably that there's a lot of social pressure to be a certain way, to look a certain way, to have established certain things in your life by a certain phase in your life experience. She's sort of challenging those notions."

Renée, who previously dated Bradley Cooper, has been in a relationship with musician Doyle Bramhall for four years. But she did admit that she had fun playing on her friend's Tinder account.

"I did go to a wedding last year and I did learn what Tinder was," she said. "We sat and went through my friend's Tinder page, which is pretty incredible. I can't imagine..."

The actress said that Bridget "challenged" society's expectations

The star has been on the promo trail for her new comedy, which will hit cinema screens in the UK on 16 September. It's been almost six years since Renée graced the silver screen.

Speaking of her decision to take an extended break from Hollywood, she said: "It was time, it was time, I wanted to do some other things that there's not a lot of time for when you're caught up in the cycle of making films, because they tend to overlap.

"There's not a lot of time to develop other skills, it's a pretty big commitment, it's a happy fun commitment, but I wanted to learn some other things. I did some pretty great things."
