Calvin Harris has opened up about his relationship with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, and how he regrets angrily tweeting about her following their break-up back in July. The star dated the We Are Never Getting Back Together star for over a year before the pair called it a day.

Speaking to GQ, the How Deep is Your Love DJ spoke about his reaction after it was revealed that Taylor Swift had a role in writing his smash hit summer single This Is What You Came For, despite Taylor allegedly wishing to remain anonymous during their relationship.

At the time, he tweeted: "I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym. Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though."

Speaking about his tweets at the time, Calvin said: "It was completely the wrong instinct. I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled.

Tom and Taylor dated for three months before ending their relationship

"It felt like things were piling on top of me, and that was when I snapped. I'm not good at being a celebrity, but when it ended, all hell broke loose. Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure."

Calvin opened up about Taylor shortly after her split with Tom Hiddleston was revealed. The star had been dating the Thor actor for three months following her break-up from Calvin, and has been spotted looking in good spirits following the announcement that the two had decided to part ways.

Taylor looked to be in high spirits following the split

A source close to the 26-year-old revealed that the split was due to Tom wishing to make their relationship more public, telling Us: "Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection, but Tom didn't listen to her concerns when she brought them up.

"They get along great and will remain friends, but they just don't see it working romantically right now."
