Zayn Malik is set to release his first autobiography later this year, publishers Penguin Random House have announced. The book will be titled ZAYN and rather than pages of narrative, it will feature a collection of the singer's personal stories, notes, drawings and never-before-seen photographs.

The former One Direction band member said in a statement: "I'm going to show you as much as I can so that you can judge me on my own terms, not on what the press or anyone else says."

The memoir will be released on 1 November and has been billed as "an intimate and raw scrapbook of his life".

The description noted: "Never-before-released photos give readers insight to ZAYN, no-holds-barred. Gorgeously designed with hundreds of full-colour photographs and Zayn's notes, drawings, song lyrics, and personal stories, the book captures Zayn's most private moments and his candid feelings on fame, success, music, and life."

The hardcover can be pre-ordered from Amazon for £18.99.

Zayn first rose to fame as one fifth of popular boy band One Direction. Alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan, he starred on The X Factor in 2010.

Zayn, who is currently dating model Gigi Hadid, shocked the music world when he announced that he was quitting the band last year.

The Pillowtalk singer has found success as a solo R&B artist, although Zayn has pulled out of a few concerts due to his struggles with anxiety.

Earlier this month he announced he will not be performing in Dubai. He wrote in a statement: "I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances. I feel I am making progress but I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October."
