Jennifer Aniston's husband Justin Theroux talks Brad and Angelina divorce: 'That's terrible news for those children'

Jennifer Aniston might not have commented on ex Brad Pitt's divorce from Angelina Jolie, but her husband Justin Theroux has had his say. The actor was asked about the couple's high-profile split while on the promotional trail for his new movie The Girl on the Train this week, and he gave a surprisingly honest answer.

"As a child of divorce, all I can say is that's terrible news for those children, and that's all you can really say," Justin, 45, told Business Insider. "It's boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time. That's horrible."

Justin isn't the only member of Jennifer's inner circle to comment on Brad and Angelina's separation. On Tuesday, Courteney Cox spoke out to defend her best friend, who has been unwittingly dragged into the divorce drama ever since the news broke last week.

"It's not about [Jennifer]," Courteney told Entertainment Tonight as she attended Revlon's Annual Philanthropic Luncheon in LA on Tuesday. "I feel like we're exacerbating it by even talking about it."

Angelina filed for divorce on Monday 19 September, citing irreconcilable differences in her paperwork, and listing the date of the couple's separation as 15 September. The Oscar-winning actress is seeking sole physical custody of their six children – Maddox, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

"This decision was made for the health of the family," Angelina's attorney Robert Offer said at the time. "She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

A short while later, Brad broke his silence. "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids," he said in a statement to People. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
