Ben Affleck talks candidly about co-parenting with estranged wife Jennifer Garner

In the 15 months since their split, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have worked hard to maintain a good relationship for their sake of their three children. The former couple continue to live on the same property and share equal responsibility for Violet, 10, Seraphina, seven, and four-year-old Samuel. This week Ben candidly spoke about their approach to co-parenting.

"We do our best. We try our best," the 44-year-old actor told Entertainment Tonight, while attending the LA premiere of his new film The Accountant on Monday evening.

Ben and Jennifer might share parenting duties, but Ben admitted that there is one task he is not so good at. "My area of expertise with the kids [are] spotty at best," he admitted. "Not homework. I only play an accountant in the movie – in real life, I am badly wanting!"

Ben's comments came just a few hours after he was spotting doing the Monday morning school run with Jennifer by his side. The former couple were pictured walking together in Brentwood, California after dropping their brood off, looking friendly as they chatted away.

The couple announced their separation one day after their 10th wedding anniversary

Ben and Jennifer announced their separation on 30 June, 2015 – one day after their 10th wedding anniversary. So far, neither have filed for divorce, and they are regularly seen together on outings with their children. Earlier this year, Jennifer even took the youngsters on a trip to Europe to see their father while he filmed the upcoming superhero movie, Justice League.

"It has to be [a good relationship], you don't have a choice," the 44-year-old actress said during an appearance on the Today show in August. "We are definitely a modern family, we're doing really well."

She added: "Ben was working in London on Justice League, and I thought, 'Well, the kids should have that experience.' He and I are great friends and we all just went en masse!"
