Pete Burns, You Spin Me Round singer, dies aged 57: stars pay tribute

Tributes have been pouring in for Pete Burns, the frontman of Dead or Alive, who passed away aged 57 on Sunday. The singer suffered a cardiac arrest, his management announced.

"All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star," the statement read.

"He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories he has left us with."

Pete Burns suffered a cardiac arrest

Pete will be remembered for his 1985 hit You Spin Me Round and in recent years, for appearing on reality TV shows including Celebrity Big Brother, Celebrity Wife Swap and The Body Shocking Show.

Celebrity Big Brother presenter Davina McCall was one of the first to react to the news of Pete's death. She took to Twitter to write: "So so sad to hear about Pete Burns ... we partied hard in the 90s ... RIP Pete x."

Politician George Galloway, who shared a house with Pete during their Celebrity Big Brother days, wrote: "Sad to hear of the demise of Pete Burns. He was a cross between Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker. You don't get more brilliant than that. RIP".

"You were a sensitive soul and will be missed," wrote Sinitta

Pete's fellow housemate Preston, frontman of The Ordinary Boys, also tweeted: "Heartbroken to hear about Pete Burns. He was a true punk rocker and one of the kindest hearts I've ever known. Gutted."

"Rest in Peace @PeteBurnsICON we had some laughs and some tears over the years .you were a sensitive soul and will be missed x," wrote Sinitta.

Boy George posted: "Tearful about the passing of @PeteBurnsICON he was one of our great true eccentrics and such a big part of my life! Wow. Hard to believe!"

Martin Kemp and Terri Seymour also paid tribute on social media, with Terri writing: "So sad to hear about the passing of #PeteBurns."
