Cheryl is set to make her first TV appearance since rumours surfaced that she is pregnant. The 33-year-old star was this week named the new face of Childline – and on Wednesday evening she will appear on The One Show with the charity's founder Esther Rantzen to talk about the new partnership.

Of course, fans are also hoping that the star will use the opportunity to officially confirm that she is expecting her first baby with boyfriend Liam Payne.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Childline, and to celebrate Cheryl's association with the charity, she stars in a powerful new video in which she voices young people struggling with personal issues, including sexual assault.

The video, which was released on Wednesday, shows the pop star sat on a school chair in an empty gymnasium, as her voice is replaced by those of youngsters needing help.

"Thousands of people are suffering with problems just like these," she says in the clip. "I want to make sure anyone going through a hard time, knows they can talk to someone and get the help they need. Childline is there for you, whoever you are."

Cheryl filmed the video back in September; at the time a member of her PR team tweeted a snapshot taken on set, showing the star posing for a selfie in-between takes. It was the first time that Cheryl had been photographed since the pregnancy rumours emerged, and the image, which cropped out her tummy, caused a stir amongst fans.

Childline has said it hopes Cheryl's popularity in the UK will help bring its work to a "whole new audience".

Dame Esther said: "We are really excited at the awareness that Cheryl will bring to the service, and in particular how she will enable us reach out to even more desperately unhappy young people with nowhere else to turn.

"She fully understands the new dangers young people face today such as sexting and cyber-bullying.

"The reality is that whatever the age or the problem Childline is a free, confidential helpline for any young person - a message that Cheryl will help us take to a whole new audience now that she has joined the team."
