He is the king of television, but it seems former Strictly Come Dancing host Bruce Forsyth won't be returning to our screens any time soon. The star is having problems with his mobility after undergoing surgery last year, wife Wilnelia has revealed in a rare and emotional interview with You magazine.

"I don't think about it too much," the 59-year-old said, when asked about a life without Bruce. "I hope I'll be prepared somehow, but it doesn't feel real. He's the man I fell in love with because his brain is there.

"He has a bit of a problem moving, but we still laugh and talk. I pray, I believe. The main thing is that he's doing well. The pain is more emotional; sometimes we cry, but mostly we laugh."

Bruce Forsyth's wife Wilnelia has revealed the star has problems moving

The veteran TV star, 88, underwent a procedure on an abdominal aortic aneurysm after suffering a fall at home in October 2015. Medical tests showed he had two life-threatening aneurysms which, if ruptured, could have been fatal.

"The operation took his energy because of his age, there's no question about it," the Puerto Rican beauty queen added. "Some days are better than others. On the not-so-good days he tries to rest."

"The main thing is that he's doing well," she said

Recalling the moment he went to have his operation, Wilnelia said: "I sat alone in his room, then suddenly the door opened and there were the children [their son JJ and Bruce's daughters]. Bruce had asked me to keep them away from the hospital as he didn't want them to worry, but I knew they would come. Over the past few months they've been my rock."

Sir Bruce left his role as Strictly presenter in April 2014. He has not been seen in public this year and was unwell to attend the funerals of close friends Ronnie Corbett and Terry Wogan.
