The BBC excluded dramatic footage of Beverley Knight collapsing on stage during the pre-recorded Children in Need Rocks tribute concert. The 43-year-old singer shocked audience members earlier this month when she fell to the floor during her rendition of the Whitney Houston song I Will Always Love You – but the moment she collapsed wasn't shown by the broadcaster when the event aired on Monday evening.

Beverley's representative explained to the Daily Mail: "She was in a very hot dressing room backstage and left to go straight onstage, where she suddenly felt faint mid-performance.

"Medics saw her backstage afterwards and said she had low blood sugar, but after 30 minutes she felt much better and they signed her off to perform the number later in the evening, which she did without further issues."

One onlooker told the Sun: "Beverley collapsed in the middle of a song. She was singing I Will Always Love You when it happened – she just dropped to the floor.

"People came to help her really quickly and they moved onto a quiz. Everyone in the audience was shocked, we just hope she's feeling alright now.

"Beverley looked extremely unwell during the show as she lolled on the floor and was helped off the stage by the security staff."

Fans took to Twitter to praise Beverley's vocals during the tribute concert

BBC Children In Need later released a statement, confirming the news. "Unfortunately Beverley Knight was feeling faint whilst performing on stage at BBC Children in Need Rocks for Terry. She has since been attended to by medics, is feeling much better, and we wish her the very best as she makes a full recovery."

The incident did nothing to diminish Beverley's performance, however – viewers took to Twitter in their droves to praise the singer's incredible vocals during the concert, a tribute to the late broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan.

Supergirl actor David Harewood wrote: "@BeverleyKnight Oh my God I love you! Beautiful song, everything you said was gorgeous on Black is the new Black! #blackandbritish." Another fan added: "Wow, I think @beverleyknight just out Whitney-d Whitney! #TerryWogan."
