He may be one of Hollywood's most well-respected stars, but in his personal life Eddie Redmayne is very much the family man. In a new interview, the 34-year-old has opened up about marriage to his childhood sweetheart Hannah Bagshawe, and how they're finding parenthood.

Revealing his gratitude his wife for finding him attractive as a "spotty teenager", Eddie gushed about his long-term romance. "It's great that she found me attractive then and still does," he told Time Out. "It's also wonderful having a shared history and friends, even though we didn't get together for 15 years."

The couple - who started dating in 2012 after previously being school friends - became new parents to their daughter Iris Mary in June, with the actor claiming they are simply "trying to keep her alive".

Eddie and Hannah married at the exclusive venue Babbington House in Somerset just before Christmas 2014. The Oscar-winning star had proposed to his long-term girlfriend during a holiday that summer, following a two-year relationship.

Earlier this month, the Theory of Everything actor gushed over his four-and-a-half-month old on The Ellen Show, revealing that his new daughter is "heaven".

He explained: "She is heaven. Her name is Iris… before you're a parent you sort of hear people talking about [sleepless nights] and then suddenly you're the guy who's floating in constant jetlag with an I.V. of caffeine. And so I've become that person."

Discussing the positive side of fatherhood, he noted: "But then occasionally there's that amazing thing where it's three o'clock in the morning and you're sort of gently furious and you get a little smile and your heart breaks a bit and it's all totally worth it."

The father-of-one also revealed that his little girl has already travelled the world after he and his PR executive wife Hannah took her to Rio, Brazil for the 2016 Olympics.

"She was eight weeks old and it was the most astounding invitation but I've always had this utter fear of flying with children," he admitted. "We were on a flight with most of the British team and there was this fear like, 'what if she cries lots then they don't sleep and they blame all of their lack of success on Iris' but she was amazing… she was so calm."
