Hawaii Five-O actor Keo Woolford dies aged 49 after suffering a stroke

Keo Woolford, an actor on the hit CBS TV series Hawaii Five-O, has sadly passed away at the age of 49. He died in a hospital in Oahu, Hawaii on Monday, three days after suffering a "severe" stroke, his publicist has confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter.

Keo had a recurring role as Detective James Chang in Hawaii Five-O. At the time of his death, he was working on a sequel to his 2013 movie, The Haumana, which he wrote, directed and produced. The talented star was also known to fans for his roles in 2014's Godzilla, the 2007 movie Falling For Grace, and the 1999 release, Happy, Texas.

Keo was a stage actor too, having appeared in over 300 performances of The King & I, including shows at the London Palladium, as well as being an accomplished musician, who played with the Hawaiian band Brownskin.

His Hawaii Five-O co-star, Lost's Daniel Dae Kim led the tributes following the sad news of his death. "As talented as you were, I will remember you most for your kindness," he wrote. "Thank you for sharing your light with us, @KeoWoolford. Rest In Peace."

Actress Kelly Hu, who starred in the show Arrow and had a role in Keo's The Haumana, also remembered the star. "He didn't pigeon hole me like so many other people in Hollywood did," she said in a statement to People. "He gave me the opportunity to bring the character of Linda to life. He was a great talent who allowed other talents to shine. I will miss my chosen brother immensely."
