Cath Tyldesley dazzled her audience at the Lowry theatre on Saturday night following the release of her debut album, Rise.

The Coronation Street star took to the stage and wowed the crowds while dressed in a stunning floor-length black gown with a netting skirt, while styling her long blonde tresses in a half bun. Speaking about the evening to Manchester Evening News, the star revealed that she was so excited to perform at that particular theatre as her late grandfather James Thornhill was from the area and she was encouraged by him to pursue showbiz at the early stages of her career.

"The main reason why I released music this year and decided to put on a one off gig at the Lowry was that my granddad was an amazing singer and a Salford lad – he'd have been so thrilled," she explained. "It's so exciting and a big tick on my bucket list. I've always wanted to perform at The Lowry. It’s my home town and I love Manchester and Salford. I promised my grandfather I'd do an album someday. I hope he's up there feeling proud."

However, the Corrie star admitted she felt the nerves before taking to the stage. She said: "I'm terrified before I step on stage. I shake all over sometimes. But once I'm on stage and I've sang my first song, I'm a lot more settled. I think nerves are good. They keep you on your toes. It's completely different when I'm at Corrie - I don't really get nervous there. That's another reason I wanted to do this live gig. I think it's good to challenge yourself.
