She is set to become the First Lady of the United States, but Melania Trump is first and foremost a mother. Donald Trump's wife will only spend a couple of days in the White House after her husband's inauguration, before returning to New York.

According to TMZ, sources say that Melania wants to maintain a sense of normalcy for her son Barron, who attends a private school in New York's Upper West Side.

Melania will go back and forth from New York to Washington D.C. until June, when she and her ten-year-old son will move from their Trump Tower penthouse to the White House. "She takes the mum thing seriously," one insider said.

"Melania is extremely close to Barron and they have become closer during the campaign," a source said

A source has also previously told the New York Post: "Melania is extremely close to Barron and they have become closer during the campaign. The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum."

President-elect Donald, meanwhile, will immediately settle into the historic official residence after his inauguration on Friday.

When his wife and youngest son eventually move in, there's no doubt that the White House will be prepared according to their needs. The future First Lady is expected to have her own 'glam room', complete with special lighting, where she will get ready for her public appearances.

Melania's make-up artist Nicole Bryl shared the 46-year-old's interior design plans with Us Weekly's Stylish, confirming: "There will absolutely be a room designated for hair, make-up and wardrobe. Melania wants a room with the most perfect lighting scenario, which will make our job as a creative team that much more efficient, since great lighting can make or break any look."

With Donald's inauguration just days away, Melania's team have of course turned their attention to her inauguration look. While some designers, including Marc Jacobs, have publicly refused to dress the former model, it's widely believed that Melania may choose to wear Ralph Lauren again, just like she did on election night.
