President Donald Trump has labelled Madonna "disgusting" following her comments at Saturday's Women's March about "blowing up the White House". The 70-year-old shared his thoughts on the singer in an interview with Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity on Thursday night.

"Honestly, she's disgusting," he said. "I think she hurt herself very badly. I think she hurt the whole cause. I thought her and a couple of others. But I thought she was in particular, I thought what she said was disgraceful to our country."

Speaking at the Women's March on the day after President Trump's inauguration, Madonna had told the crowd: "I'm angry, Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know that this won't change anything.

"We cannot fall into despair. As the poet W. H. Auden once wrote on the eve of World War Two, 'We must love one another or die.' I choose love. Are you with me?"

The 58-year-old has since defended her comments on Instagram, writing: "I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it's important people hear and understand my speech in its entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context."

During his interview, President Trump also condemned Saturday Night Live writer Katie Rich, who was recently suspended from the show for her "insensitive" and "offensive" tweet about ten-year-old Barron Trump.

"Saturday Night Live, a person from Saturday Night Live was terrible," he said. "I don't mind some humour, but it's terrible. For them to attack, for NBC to attack my ten-year-old son… it's a disgrace. He's a great boy. And it's not an easy thing for him. Believe me."
