Nelly Furtado reveals split from husband, says she is ready to date

Nelly Furtado made an appearance on Loose Women to promote her new album Ride on Wednesday, and opened up about her dating life following a "difficult" break-up in 2016. The star, whose hits include I'm Like a Bird and Turn Off the Light, explained: "I went through an emotional, difficult time last summer and I wrote and sung to myself songs to get through it." She then joked that her Wikipedia page still stated that she was in a relationship, requesting that it be changed so she can date. "I am single," she said. "Someone here needs to update my Wikipedia, it's not helping my dating life!"

Nelly opened up about her dating life

The singer has one daughter – 14-year-old Nevis Chetan – and opened up about raising a teenage girl. "I need to stay mentally and emotionally and psychical well for my daughter," she said. "We always think we’re doing the wrong things as mums!" The star also spoke about how she struggled to manage being on tour during the peak of her career back in 2006, telling the panellists Nadia Sawalha, Christina Bleakley, Linda Robson and Martine McCutcheon: "I craved to be home. It was exciting but I took too much on. Being a mother, on the road, and managing a relationship while making music."

The 38-year-old got fans talking following her appearance on the show, with many praising her frank discussion on the importance of wellbeing. One wrote: "So Nelly Furtado is on Loose Women right now and she's clearly the nicest person in the world," while another added: "Amazing message from the beautfiul @NellyFurtado on @loosewomen, about #selfcare and the importance of #mentalhealth and #Wellbeing." Nelly shared a selfie in the car following her appearance on the popular daytime show, writing: "A fun time with the @loosewomen," accompanied by several love heart emojis.
