Emma Willis had been planning on a romantic trip away to Ibiza with her husband Matt to celebrate his birthday over the weekend, but instead the mother-of-three was rushed to A&E following severe stomach pains, which was later identified as an infected appendix. Emma has since been resting in hospital following an emergency operation, but thankfully felt better enough to post on her Instagram account on Monday – telling her fans exactly what had happened.

Thanking her surgeon, Marco Venza and his team for their care, the TV presenter also made sure to tribute the post to the NHS, writing: "To everyone working their butts off within the NHS fighting to make it work, thank YOU longlivetheNHS." Fans of the popular presenter sent their well wishes on social media, with one writing: "Hope you feel better soon xx," while another said: "Get well soon. You still look good even after surgery."

Earlier in the month, Emma had something far more cheerful to post about – her daughter Trixie’s first birthday. The doting mum shared a rare picture of her youngest child to mark the special milestone, showing the little girl toddling through the family kitchen, clutching a huge pink number one balloon in her hand. Alongside the candid picture, she wrote: "A year ago today this little angel joined us. When we thought our family couldn't get any better, little Trix arrived and took it to a whole new level. Happy birthday to my little saus."

Trixie is Emma's third child with husband Matt Willis. The couple also share eight-year-old daughter Isabelle and six-year-old son Ace. And while she has her hands full with her growing brood,

Emma recently opened up to HELLO! Online about how she and Matt keep the romance alive. The couple are set to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary next year. "Sometimes our date nights are just spontaneous," The Voice presenter said. "Matt was at a gig the other night and I had been at meetings, so we went along to [a friend's] party. Sometimes my mum will say, 'We can look after them tonight,' and you ask, 'If that's alright?' and then peg it!”
