The first episode of the new series aired on Tuesday

In a poll conducted on HELLO!'s Twitter account, viewers voted on how they felt about the new series, with 30 per cent having enjoyed it, 54 per cent needing to see more to decide, and just 16 per cent against it. In the first episode, the new competitors were tasked with baking a fruity cake in their first challenge, a set of chocolate mini rolls for the technical task, and an 'illusion' cake for the showstopper round. The bakers produced an incredible range of cakes, and the showstoppers, including a watermelon cake, a cake that looked like a BLT sandwich, and a pile of blueberry pancakes. Discussing the beautiful bakes, one person wrote: "I actually really enjoyed new #GBBO and the illusion cake challenge blew my mind," while another added: "Love the showstopper of an illusion cake! Hope they will have it in later seasons as well. Such great and fun results!"
