The arrival of Cruz got 2005 off to a great start for David, pictured en route to visit his one-day-old son
While sports commentators and fashion experts may have varying views about the most important Beckham moment of the last year, David himself would likely choose February 21, when his third son a brother for six-year-old Brooklyn and Romeo, two was born. "We're over the moon," he declared after Cruz made his debut at a Madrid hospital. "He's gorgeous, healthy and his mum is very good, so we're a very happy family."

Victoria was originally scheduled to be delivered by Caesarean on Friday, February 25, but when she awoke with abdominal pains in the early hours of the 20th, it was decided to move the operation forward. Doctors later gave assurances that both mother and child were doing fine. The only question being asked by the footie star's teammates was which national side Cruz would eventually play for. Being born in his family's adoptive homeland, the tot could opt for either England or Spain.
